What does the #7 represent?

Resin identification codes were developed to provide a system to identify the type of resin used in a product. Use of Code 7 stands for a category designated as "other", indicating that the plastic packaging is made with a resin other than those identified by Codes 1 through 6. Some plastics with a No. 7 code are polycarbonates, which do contain BPA, yet there are many plastics in the category that do not contain BPA, including Eastman Tritan™ copolyester.
